इति संचिन्त्य सर्वे स्म प्रतीचीं दिशम् आश्रिताः ॥
कुशस्थलीं पुरीं रम्यां रैवतेनोपशोभिताम् ॥
पुनर् निवेशनं तस्यां कृतवन्तो वयं नृप ॥
तथैव दुर्गसंस्कारं देवैर् अपि दुरासदम् ॥
स्त्रियो ऽपि यस्यां युध्येयुः किं पुनर् वृष्णिपुंगवाः ॥
तस्यां वयम् अमित्रघ्न निवसामो ऽकुतोभयाः ॥

iti saṃcintya sarve sma pratīcīṃ diśam āśritāḥ ||
kuśasthalīṃ purīṃ ramyāṃ raivatenopaśobhitām ||
punar niveśanaṃ tasyāṃ kṛtavanto vayaṃ nṛpa ||
tathaiva durgasaṃskāraṃ devair api durāsadam ||
striyo 'pi yasyāṃ yudhyeyuḥ kiṃ punar vṛṣṇipuṃgavāḥ ||
tasyāṃ vayam amitraghna nivasāmo 'kutobhayāḥ ||

Translation

"So resolving, all of us took refuge toward the western quarter, at Kushasthali, the delightful city adorned by [the mountain] Raivata; there we established a settlement once more, O king, and likewise strengthened the fortress, unassailable even by the gods — one where even women could fight, not to speak of the bulls of the Vrishnis; in it we dwell, O slayer of foes, fearing nothing from any quarter."
