पूजितो वायुपुत्रेण भक्तेन च कपीश्वरम् । आहूय शंसतां सर्वमाद्यन्तं रामलक्ष्मणौ

Hanumān appears, and he is named with two words: vāyuputra — “the son of the Wind” — and bhakta.
This is the book's first use of the word bhakta, “devotee”, and it is set beside Hanumān not by chance. In the whole tradition he is the model of that relation to the Lord in which service is indistinguishable from love.
Let us remember this word: it will return at the end of the uttara-tāpanī, where it will be said to whom Rāma opens Himself.
It is said that Rāma was “honoured” by him, pūjitaḥ. Again the passive voice, as in the ninth verse, where He was “embraced” by Sītā. The book consistently sets Him as the receiver.
Then — the meeting with Sugrīva and the talk: “they told all from beginning to end”. A small thing, but telling. The All-highest tells the monkey king his story, as one tells it to him from whom one asks help.
In this is the whole sense of the southern part of the Rāmāyaṇa, to which the Vaiṣṇavas return constantly: He could have crushed Laṅkā alone, but gathered an army of the forest folk. The mighty one needs no helpers; the seeker of closeness does.
