Having slain him, Rāghava set Sugrīva on the kingship; and Sugrīva, calling the monkeys who know all the quarters, said to them: “now…”

Rāma raises Sugrīva to the throne — and takes nothing for himself.
This repeats through the tradition: He returns kingdoms and does not keep them. So it will be with Laṅkā, given to Vibhīṣaṇa, of which the twenty-ninth verse will speak. He who was praised as “the best of kings” gives kingdoms away.
Recall the first Upaniṣad: His name was derived from the root rā — “to give”; it was said “he bestows everything”, akhilaṁ rāti. The tale shows this in deed.
Then Sugrīva summons the monkeys āśā-vidaḥ — “knowers of the quarters”. The word āśā means both “a quarter of the sky” and “hope”; and in a verse where the search for the lost one begins, this doubleness is in place.
They set out to all four quarters. As is known, only one troop will find her — the southern, and in it Hanumān.
The next verse will carry us across the ocean in a single move.
