नाविरतो दुश्चरितान्नाशान्तो नासमाहितः नाशान्तमनसो वापि प्रज्ञानेनैनमाप्नुयात्

प्रज्ञानेन एनम् आप्नुयात्prajñānena enam āpnuyātshall attain Him by insight; will obtain Him through wisdom
अनुवाद
“Neither he who has not turned from evil deeds, nor the unstilled, nor the uncollected, nor he whose mind is unquiet, shall attain Him by insight.”

The verse is taken almost verbatim from the Kaṭha Upaniṣad (1.2.24), and not by chance: it sets a moral boundary under all that has been said.
Four are listed to whom knowledge is not given. He who has not left evil deeds. The unstilled. The uncollected. He whose mind is unquiet.
The first in the list is the most important. Duścarita, “evil conduct”, is named before all the subtleties of concentration.
This is the direct answer to the temptation that hangs over every book of non-duality: since the world is a phantasm, since I am no doer, deeds are indifferent.
No. Everything begins with deeds, and without this there is no way further.
Note also the word prajñānena — “by insight”. Even insight does not take it: with a keen mind and a bad life one does not come to Him.
In the Kaṭha there follows the famous line: He is obtained by him whom He Himself chooses. That line is absent here, but it is implied by the whole structure: what is listed is the means by which one does not take Him.
