हर्षामर्षभयक्रोधकामकार्पण्यदृष्टिभिः न हृष्यति ग्लायति यः परामर्शविवर्जितः

The third repetition: 2.44 and 2.43 are joined.
The six passions listed are the same, and all said of them there stands; especially of kārpaṇya, “beggarliness”, as the root of the rest.
Note the new word at the end: parāmarśa-vivarjita — “free of rumination”.
Parāmarśa — “retrospective consideration, thinking back”. It occurred in 5.16, where by it a dream was recognized.
Here it is rejected: the man does not chew over what has happened.
This is an addition to the earlier marks, and an exact one. We suffer not so much from events as from the long conversations we hold with them afterwards.
