अतो निदाघ तत्त्वज्ञ व्यवहारेषु संसृतेः नष्टं नष्टमुपेक्षस्व प्राप्तं प्राप्तमुपाहर

शब्दशः अर्थ

अतः निदाघ तत्त्व-ज्ञataḥ nidāgha tattva-jñatherefore, Nidāgha, knower of truth; hence, Nidāgha, thou who knowest the real
व्यवहारेषु संसृतेःvyavahāreṣu saṃsṛteḥin the dealings of the round; amid the transactions of the whirl
नष्टम् नष्टम् उपेक्षस्वnaṣṭam naṣṭam upekṣasvawhat is lost — leave it unregarded; whatever has perished, let it pass unheeded
प्राप्तम् प्राप्तम् उपाहरprāptam prāptam upāharawhat has come — take it up; whatever has arrived, receive it
अनुवाद
“Therefore, Nidāgha, knower of truth, in the dealings of the round: what is lost — leave unregarded; what has come — take up.”

A rule of life compressed into two lines, and the book has perhaps none better.
Naṣṭaṃ naṣṭam upekṣasva — “what is lost, leave it”.
Prāptaṃ prāptam upāhara — “what has come, take it”.
Note the doubling: naṣṭaṃ naṣṭam, prāptaṃ prāptam. It means “each and every one”: without sorting, without exceptions.
The word upekṣā — “disregard, leaving without consideration”. Not “resign yourself” and not “forget”: simply do not occupy yourself with it.
And upāhara — “receive, take”. Do not refuse for show.
The address tattva-jña — “knower of truth” — is spoken to the pupil, and there is a touch of reproach in it: you know the truth, so behave accordingly.
This is the whole daily usage of the liberated man.
