“When by the perishing of designs the mind has melted, the fog of the round's delusion melts too; and clear within — like the sky at autumn's coming — shines consciousness alone, unborn, primal, endless.”

Another autumn image — the third in this book (cf. 4.17, 4.95).
In India autumn comes after the rains, when the sky, covered for months, suddenly becomes transparent to its very depth.
This is the image of clearing.
The word mihikā — “fog, drizzle”. The blinding is named neither a wall nor a darkness, but a fog: it does not hinder walking; it hinders seeing far.
Note the causal chain: the perishing of designs — the melted mind — the melted fog — the clear sky.
All four links are one event, described from different sides.
And the last word: antaḥ, “within”. The autumn sky in question is within.
