यथा नदीनां बहवोऽम्बुवेगाः
समुद्रमेवाभिमुखा द्रवन्ति ।
तथा तवामी नरलोकवीरा
विशन्ति वक्त्राण्यभिविज्वलन्ति ॥
यथा प्रदीप्तं ज्वलनं पतङ्गा
विशन्ति नाशाय समृद्धवेगाः ।
तथैव नाशाय विशन्ति लोका-
स्तवापि वक्त्राणि समृद्धवेगाः ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

yathā nadīnāṁ bahavo 'mbu-vegāḥ
samudram evābhimukhā dravanti |
tathā tavāmī nara-loka-vīrā
viśanti vaktrāṇy abhivijvalanti ||

पतङ्गाःpataṅgāḥmoths.
विशन्ति नाशायviśanti nāśāyathey enter (viśanti) to [their] destruction (nāśāya).
समृद्धवेगाःsamṛddha-vegāḥwith great speed.
तथा एवtathā evajust so.
नाशायnāśāyato [their] destruction.
विशन्ति लोकाःviśanti lokāḥthese people enter.
तव अपिtava apialso into Your.
वक्त्राणिvaktrāṇiinto the mouths.
समृद्धवेगाःsamṛddha-vegāḥwith great speed.
Translation

“As the many rushing waters of the rivers flow onward toward the ocean, so do these heroes of the mortal world enter Your blazing mouths. (28) As moths rush with great speed into a blazing fire to their destruction, so too do all these people hurtle with great speed into Your mouths, to their own ruin. (29)”
