यत् सप्तान्नानि मेधया तपसा अजनयत् पिता इति मेधया हि तपसा अजनयत् पिता एकम् अस्य साधारणम् इति इदम् एव अस्य तत् साधारणम् अन्नम् यद् इदम् अद्यते सः यः एतद् उपास्ते न सः पाप्मनः व्यावर्तते मिश्रम् हि एतत् द्वे देवान् अभाजयत् इति हुतम् च प्रहुतम् च तस्मात् देवेभ्यः जुह्वति च प्र च जुह्वति अथो आहुः दर्शपूर्णमासौ इति तस्मात् न इष्टियाजुकः स्यात् पशुभ्यः एकम् प्रायच्छत् इति तत् पयः पयः हि एव अग्रे मनुष्याः च पशवः च उपजीवन्ति तस्मात् कुमारम् जातम् घृतम् वा एव अग्रे प्रतिलेहयन्ति स्तनम् वा अनुधापयन्ति अथ वत्सम् जातम् आहुः तृणात् इति तस्मिन् सर्वम् प्रतिष्ठितम् यत् च प्राणिति यत् च न इति पयसि हि इदम् सर्वम् प्रतिष्ठितम् यत् च प्राणिति यत् च न तद् यद् इदम् आहुः संवत्सरम् पयसा जुह्वत् अप पुनर्मृत्युम् जयति इति न तथा विद्यात् यद् अहर् एव जुहोति तद् अहः पुनर्मृत्युम् अपजयति एवम् विद्वान् सर्वम् हि देवेभ्यः अन्नाद्यम् प्रयच्छति कस्मात् तानि न क्षीयन्ते अद्यमानानि सर्वदा इति पुरुषः वा अक्षितिः सः हि इदम् अन्नम् पुनः पुनः जनयते यः वै ताम् अक्षितिम् वेद इति पुरुषः वा अक्षितिः सः हि इदम् अन्नम् धिया धिया जनयते कर्मभिः यद् ह एतत् न कुर्यात् क्षीयेत ह सः अन्नम् अत्ति प्रतीकेन इति मुखम् प्रतीकम् मुखेन इति एतत् सः देवान् अपिगच्छति सः ऊर्जम् उपजीवति इति प्रशंसा

Translation

"Seven foods the Father begot by intelligence and by austerity" — yes, by intelligence and austerity he begot them. "One is common to all" — that is the food which is eaten here; he who venerates it [as the highest] does not turn away from evil, for it is mixed. "Two he apportioned to the gods" — the oblation and the offering; therefore men pour oblations and present offerings to the gods (others say: these are the new-moon and full-moon rites) — therefore one should not sacrifice for gain. "One he gave to the animals" — that is milk: for men and beasts alike live at first on milk; therefore a newborn child is first given clarified butter to lick or put to the breast, and a newborn calf is called "the one that does not yet eat grass"…
