यः श्रोत्रे तिष्ठन् श्रोत्रात् अन्तरो यं श्रोत्रं न वेद यस्य श्रोत्रं शरीरं यः श्रोत्रम् अन्तरो यमयति एषः ते आत्मा अन्तर्यामी अमृतः

Translation
He who, dwelling in the ear, is within it, whom the ear does not know, whose body is the ear, who rules it from within — he is your ātman, the Inner Ruler, the immortal.

The formula of the antaryāmin is applied to the next vesture: the ear. The same four members: He is within; the ear does not know Him; the ear is His body; He rules it from within. And the same conclusion: he is your ātman, the Inner Ruler, the immortal.
The hearer does not hear the Listener within him — and without Him the ear would be a dead shell: it is not the organ that hears, one hears by Him.
