The beginning of the sixth stage's description; it will be finished in the next verse.
Sva-ātma-ārāmatā — “the state of him whose garden is within himself”. The same word ātmārāma as in 4.34.
And the cause is named: abhāvanā — “the non-contemplating” of things.
Note that both sides are specified: ābhyantara and bāhya, “inner” and “outer” things.
The outer are plain. The inner are the states, moods and experiences that a man watches with no less partiality than his property.
Of them it was said in 4.73: look and do not peer — both at the world and at yourself.
The word dṛḍham — “firmly” — distinguishes this stage from the previous. There the amazement took root; here, the firmness of self-sufficiency.
