The waterfall image: beings as spray.
Note that there is nothing degrading in it and nothing tragic. The spray is no refuse; it is the water itself, caught in flight.
Kaṇa-ogha — “a stream of droplets”. Each is separate and momentary, and all together are one waterfall.
The second half begins the sorting by age of souls: kecit prathama-janmānaḥ — “some in their first birth”.
A curious detail. The book admits that there are beings entirely new.
Recall 5.12, which spoke of “one newly born from the Highest”, in whom the notion of self appears for the first time.
The catalogue will go on, and in it will be gods, and trees, and mountains.
