यदा वा ऋचम् आप्नोति ओम् इति एव अतिस्वरति एवम् साम एवम् यजुः एषः उ स्वरः यत् एतत् अक्षरम् एतत् अमृतम् अभयम् तत् प्रविश्य देवाः अमृताः अभवन्

When men complete a ṛc, they sound "Oṁ" above it; so with the sāman, so with the yajus. That sound is this very syllable: the immortal, the fearless. Having entered it, the gods became immortal.
