For him who, knowing this thus, venerates the fivefold sāman in the seasons, the seasons are set in order, and he himself becomes a possessor of seasons.

The fruit of the year-upāsanā: kalpante hāsmā ṛtavaḥ — "the seasons are set in order for him" (they go in concord: rains in season, a winter without cruelty) — ṛtumān bhavati — "he becomes ṛtumān": a possessor of the seasons, a man with whom everything is in season.
Ṛtumān is a lovely word: not "master of the seasons" but one standing in right relation with them (ṛtu is from ṛta, the universal order!): his sowing meets the rains, his labour meets its term, his rest meets the winter: a life without perpetual haste and perpetual lateness. This is perhaps the most practical fruit of the series: he who knows the year as a song stops fighting time — and time begins to work for him.
