अमृतत्वम् देवेभ्यः आगायानि इति आगायेत् स्वधाम् पितृभ्यः आशाम् मनुष्येभ्यः तृणोदकम् पशुभ्यः स्वर्गम् लोकम् यजमानाय अन्नम् आत्मने आगायानि इति एतानि मनसा ध्यायन् अप्रमत्तः स्तुवीत

Traducción
"Let me sing out immortality for the gods; the svadhā for the fathers, hope for men, grass and water for the cattle, the heavenly world for the sacrificer, food for myself" — so, contemplating these in his mind, let him sing praise undistracted.

The udgātṛ's code of intention: before singing, a distribution of fruits across all the storeys of being: to the gods immortality, to the fathers the svadhā (the memorial portion), to men hope (āśā! — hope is what is sung for men: the most exact of gifts to our kind!), to the cattle grass and water, to the sacrificer heaven, to himself food (a modest last item!).
etāni manasā dhyāyann apramattaḥ stuvīta — "contemplating these in his mind, let him praise undistracted": singing is a distribution: one voice, six worlds of addressees: a singer at the altar is a dispenser of goods along the vertical of the universe, and his attentiveness (apramatta!) is the accuracy of the delivery. Anyone who labours for many will recognise himself here: hold in mind all whom you serve — and do not spill the gifts along the way.
