न अन्यस्मै कस्मैचन यदि अपि अस्माइ इमाम् अद्भिः परिगृहीताम् धनस्य पूर्णाम् दद्यात् एतत् एव ततः भूयः इति

and to no one else. Even were one to give him this [earth], girdled by the waters, full of wealth — this [knowledge] is more than that. It is more than that!

The lock upon the rule: nānyasmai kasmaicana — "to no one else": and the price of the refusal is named at its limit: yady apy asmā imām adbhiḥ parigṛhītāṁ dhanasya pūrṇāṁ dadyāt — "even were one to give him this whole [earth], girdled by the waters, full of wealth" — etad eva tato bhūyaḥ — "this is more than that"!
The knowledge of the unsetting sun is worth more than the planet with all its treasures: not a poetic exaggeration but a sober rate of exchange: an earth with all its gold is a setting thing (the epochs will change — 3.6–10!); the upaniṣad of Brahman is a ticket into the unsetting: to trade an eternal day for mortal property is a madman's bargain. Hence also the "to no one else": not from the keepers' avarice but from incommensurability: what cannot be exchanged is not sold but handed over — to one who is worthy.
