अथ अध्यात्मम् इदम् एव मूर्तम् यद् अन्यत् प्राणात् च यः च अयम् अन्तः आत्मनि आकाशः एतत् मर्त्यम् एतत् स्थितम् एतत् सत् तस्य एतस्य मूर्तस्य एतस्य मर्त्यस्य एतस्य स्थितस्य एतस्य सतः एषः रसः यत् चक्षुः सतः हि एषः रसः

Now with reference to the body. The formed is everything other than the breath and the space within the body; it is the mortal, the standing, the here. The essence of this formed, mortal, standing, here is the eye: it is the essence of the here.

The same cut, taken from within (adhyātmam): the formed in a man is all the flesh except the breath and the inner space; and the essence of the flesh is the eye. As the sun is the juice of the world of things, so the eye is the juice of the body: the most concentrated and most light-bearing of what is dense; not for nothing are these two an ancient couple (eye and sun on one thread).
The body, then, is no uniform mass: it has a summit, a point of concentration — the eye. By it the body is read: a look betrays a man more surely than any limb, for in it is the rasa of all his flesh.
