The final chord of the answer draws all the lines of the tournament together: the Akṣara is "the unseen seer, the unheard hearer" (Uṣasta's formula, 3.4.2) and "there is no other seer" (the antaryāmin formula, 3.7.23). Gārgī's Imperishable, Uṣasta's Witness, Uddālaka's Inner Ruler — one and the same Last, described three times from different sides: living, seeing, ruling.
And the answer to the second arrow is given in the form of the question: "upon this Akṣara space is woven". The regress is completed not by one more thing but by That which is itself woven on nothing, since it is not fabric but Weaver; the question "upon what?" dies at His threshold not by prohibition but by fulfilment. Yājñavalkya's head is intact: he has done what he himself had warned Gārgī about — spoken of the Limit without turning It into a rung.
