न तत्र रथा न रथयोगा न पन्थानो भवन्ति अथ रथान् रथयोगान् पथः सृजते न तत्र आनन्दा मुदः प्रमुदः भवन्ति अथ आनन्दान् मुदः प्रमुदः सृजते न तत्र वेशान्ताः पुष्करिण्यः स्रवन्त्यो भवन्ति अथ वेशान्तान् पुष्करिणीः स्रवन्तीः सृजते सः हि कर्ता
na tatra rathā na rathayogā na panthāno bhavanti atha rathān rathayogān pathaḥ sṛjate na tatra ānandā mudaḥ pramudaḥ bhavanti atha ānandān mudaḥ pramudaḥ sṛjate na tatra veśāntāḥ puṣkariṇyaḥ sravantyo bhavanti atha veśāntān puṣkariṇīḥ sravantīḥ sṛjate saḥ hi kartā
There are no chariots there, no teams, no roads — and he creates chariots, teams and roads. There are no joys, delights and raptures there — and he creates joys, delights and raptures. There are no pools, lotus-ponds and rivers there — and he creates pools, lotus-ponds and rivers. For he is the Maker.

A hymn to the dreamer without equal: three times "there is none there — and he creates": chariots and roads, joys and raptures, ponds and rivers. Out of nothing, with no material and no contractor — worlds full of motion and of water. And the conclusion in two words, crowning the whole anthropology of the Upaniṣads: sa hi kartā — "for he is the Maker".
Every sleeper nightly attests his likeness to God: the power to create worlds is no privilege of the elect but the nature of the soul, a spark of the Creator. Gauḍīya Vedānta reads this verse with an exact stress: the jīva is a creator by participation, a little artist from the Great one; her dream-worlds are children's drawings beside His universes, but the hand is of the same kind. Hence salvation is not the abolition of creativity but its return to the Father: he who built chariots by night will learn to serve in His chariot-house.
