ayam agniḥ sarveṣām bhūtānām madhu asyāgneḥ sarvāṇi bhūtāni madhu yaḥ ca ayam asminn agnau tejomayaḥ amṛtamayaḥ puruṣaḥ yaḥ ca ayam adhyātmaṃ vāṅmayaḥ tejomayaḥ amṛtamayaḥ puruṣaḥ ayam eva saḥ yaḥ ayam ātmā idam amṛtam idam brahma idam sarvam
This fire is the honey of all beings, and all beings are the honey of this fire. And the shining immortal person who is in fire, and the shining immortal person who is in the body as speech — that is this ātman. This is the immortal, this is Brahman, this is all.

The third wave is fire, and its inner partner is speech: a bond known from the first adhyāya (speech carried beyond death became fire — 1.3.12; speech has "fire for its luminous form" — 1.5.11). Fire warms and lights all, and all feed it with fuel and oblation; speech lights everyone from within, and all feed it with breath and meaning.
The honey-order turns the old correspondence into tenderness: fire and speech do not merely "correspond" — they are sweet to the world, and the world is sweet to them. A word spoken with love is honey in the strictest, Vedic sense: the food of gods and men at once.
