दिवः च एनम् आदित्यात् च दैवम् मनः आविशति तद् वै दैवम् मनः येन आनन्दी एव भवति अथो न शोचति

The second gift is the divine mind from the sky and the sun, and its definition is among the most merciful in the Veda: "that by which a man is joyful and does not grieve" (ānandī eva bhavaty atho na śocati). Not omniscience, not super-thought — joy without sorrow: that is the mark of a mind returned to its divine condition.
The measure is given once for all: a mind that breeds anguish, anxiety and dejection is not yet in its place; the solar mind is bright by nature, as its luminous form, the sun, is (1.5.12). Sadness is not depth but a darkening; healed thought rejoices as the sky does on a clear day. "The knower of the ātman crosses beyond sorrow", the Chāndogya promised (7.1.3); here we are shown by what: sorrow is not defeated — one recovers from it into the divine mind.
