अनुवाद
This same [mantha] Yājñavalkya Vājasaneya told to his pupil Madhuka Paiṅgya, and said: "Even if one poured it on a dry stump, branches would be born and leaves would sprout."

The second link is Yājñavalkya himself: the great hero of this book hands the mantha on to his pupil Madhuka. Even the man who went off into the forest left this household vidyā behind: the greatest of knowers did not disdain the science of abundance.
Link by link the formula of the dry stump is repeated: the power of the vidyā is tested at every handing-on, as fire is at every kindling. The vine grows as long as that "leaves will sprout" is alive.
