This thunder is the honey of all beings, and all beings are the honey of this thunder. And the shining immortal person who is in the thunder, and the shining immortal person who is in the body as sound and voice — that is this ātman. This is the immortal, this is Brahman, this is all.

The ninth wave is thunder and voice: the heavenly peal and the human sound (śābdaḥ sauvaraḥ — "of sound, of voice") are one element in two registers. Thunder is the honey of beings: the voice of the sky, promising moisture; beings are the honey of thunder: an earth that waits for its message.
The pair teaches us to hear in our own voice a kinsman of the thunder: a man's speech can carry the same tidings of a rain of mercy. Later this book will tell the famous parable of the thunder that says "da-da-da" (BU 5.2): the voice of heaven turns out to be a teacher of restraint, giving and compassion. The honey of thunder is not in its loudness but in its message.
