Two small rules of beauty and strength: on seeing his own reflection in water, a man is neither to admire it nor to fear it but to pronounce an affirmation of fullness: "in me are brightness, strength, glory, wealth, merit" — the reflection is met with a confession, not with vanity or anxiety.
And about a wife's purification: the true śrī, the beauty of a woman, is in her cleanness after her time; to the "radiant" one (yaśasvinī) the husband comes with a word and with respect. The ritual calendar of marriage is built around a woman's purity as around a festival: not squeamishness but reverence before the restored altar.
