सः ह उवाच यद् ऊर्ध्वं गार्गि दिवः यद् अवाक् पृथिव्याः यद् अन्तरा द्यावापृथिवी इमे यद् भूतम् च भवत् च भविष्यत् च इति आचक्षते आकाशे तद् ओतं च प्रोतं च इति

The answer to the first arrow: everything extended and everything temporal is woven "upon space" (ākāśe). Ākāśa here is the subtlest of the manifest grounds: an invisible fabric on which the worlds and events are hung; even time is "woven" upon it, since every "before" and "after" needs room for succession.
The answer is correct — and Gārgī knows it is not the last: she deliberately kept a second arrow. Space is the ground of everything manifest, but it is itself manifest; the fabric has been found — the Weaver remains. The first arrow has drawn her opponent out to the edge of the manifest; the second will fly beyond the edge.
