Here it is shown how the Lord watches over His devotees through His own servants. Vidura is the god Dharma himself, born among men (through Animandavya's curse); and it is his wise word that saves the Pandavas from the burning house of lac through a secret underground passage. Bhishma, born of the Vasus, shows the highest example of fidelity to a vow (pratijñā-pālana). And the very birth of the Pandavas and the continuance of the line all unfold under the providence of the Supreme, who arranges His devotees in advance to preserve dharma. Thus, behind this chain of births and intrigues, one guiding hand of the Lord shows through, protecting those who are dear to Him.
