तानि वै एतानि सामानि एतम् सामवेदम् अभ्यतपन् तस्य अभितप्तस्य यशः तेजः इन्द्रियम् वीर्यम् अन्नाद्यम् रसः अजायत

Translation
These very sāmans brooded upon this Sāma-veda; from it, so brooded upon, its sap was born: glory, splendour, power of the senses, might, and food.

The western bees: the sāmans brood upon the Sāma-veda — and the same fivefold sap: glory, splendour, power of the senses, might, food.
Mark this: melody too is "brooded upon": music also must be cultivated by warmth — by singing it out, repeating it, putting breath into it (the vyāna of 1.3!): an unheated melody yields no honey. The third load is ready — and it will settle in the most unexpected of colours.
