तम् चेद् एतस्मिन् वयसि किंचित् उपतपेत् सः ब्रूयात् प्राणाः आदित्याः इदम् मे तृतीयसवनम् आयुः अनुसंतनुत इति मा अहम् प्राणानाम् आदित्यानाम् मध्ये यज्ञः विलोप्सीय इति उत् ह एव ततः एति अगदः ह एव भवति

Translation
If in this age something afflicts him, let him say: "O prāṇas, O Ādityas! Extend this third pressing of mine to the [full] span of life: may I, the sacrifice, not be cut short in the midst of the prāṇas, the Ādityas!" And he rises from it and becomes well.

The third healing mantra, for old age: "O Ādityas! extend the third pressing to the [full] āyus": and the old man appeals not to pity but to due form: the sacrifice must be completed, the savana served out to the end.
The three mantras of the puruṣa-yajña make one whole science of endurance: in every age illness is met with the same shield: "I am a sacrifice in the midst of service, and the service is not finished." This is not a spell against the fear of death — it is an invocation of order: a life-as-liturgy has a right to be served out; and the next verse will produce a man who used that right to the full.
