सः यः एतत् एवम् अमृतम् वेद वसूनाम् एव एकः भूत्वा अग्निना एव मुखेन एतत् एव अमृतम् दृष्ट्वा तृप्यति सः एतत् एव रूपम् अभिसंविशति एतस्मात् रूपात् उदेति

Translation
He who thus knows this nectar, becoming one of the Vasus, is satisfied by the sight of this very nectar with Agni himself for a mouth; he enters into this very appearance and rises up out of this appearance.

The phala-śruti of the first nectar: ya etad evam amṛtaṁ veda — "he who thus knows" — vasūnām eva eko bhūtvā — "becoming one of the Vasus"! — partakes of their meal with their own mouth, Agni: the knowledge of the nectar admits one to the host that tastes it: not "he will come to the Vasus" but "he will be a Vasu": upāsanā makes a partaker, not a guest.
Here is the highest stake of the whole science of honey: knowledge makes one the equal of the gods: he who has learned by what and how a host is fed sits down at its table (the same logic as at 2.20: sālokya, sārṣṭi, sāyujya!). The sun's honey is not under guard — it is open to the knower; the gods who do not eat are not jealous: their meal is contemplation, and contemplation is never crowded.
