And they gave to him. These five and the other five — ten in all — make up the kṛta. Therefore in all the quarters of space the ten is food and is the kṛta. This is Virāj, the eater of food: by her all this is seen. All this becomes visible to him, and an eater of food he becomes, who knows thus; who knows thus.

The vidyā ends with an arithmetic of fullness: five cosmic (fire, sun, moon, waters + Vāyu the gatherer) and five inward (speech, eye, hearing, mind + the prāṇa) — daśa santaḥ — "being ten": tat kṛtam — "that is the kṛta"! — the winning die itself (the throws are reckoned kṛta = 4, tretā = 3, dvāpara = 2, kali = 1: 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 10!): the ten gathers in all the throws as the kṛta gathers all the points!
And the name of the ten: saiṣā virāḍ annādī — "this is Virāj, the eater of food": the Royally-Shining (a metre of ten syllables and a cosmic Sovereign!): the ten gatherers of the world and of man are one Virāj, all-devouring and all-seeing: tayedaṁ sarvaṁ dṛṣṭam — "by her all this is seen".
So the story's circle closes: the geese compared the king to Raikva by way of a die — and Raikva's science proves to be the science of the Kṛta itself: he who knows the ten Gatherers is himself the winning throw: everything flows to him, everything is visible to him, all food is his (annādo bhavati!). The doubled ya evaṁ veda closes one of the most perfect tales of the Upaniṣads: of a glory that studied its way up to knowledge, and of a knowledge that sat scratching under a cart.
