अथ यानि अष्टाचत्वारिंशत् वर्षाणि तत् तृतीयसवनम् अष्टाचत्वारिंशदक्षरा जगती जागतम् तृतीयसवनम् तत् अस्य आदित्याः अन्वायत्ताः प्राणाः वाव आदित्याः एते हि इदम् सर्वम् आददते

Translation
And the [next] forty-eight years are the third pressing: the jagatī has forty-eight syllables, and the third pressing is jagatī-wise. With it the Ādityas are bound up; the prāṇas are indeed the Ādityas: for they take all this away.

The third pressing is old age: the years from the sixty-eighth to the hundred and sixteenth (48 = the syllables of the jagatī, the spacious evening metre!): the evening of life belongs to the Ādityas, and the etymology is a farewell: prāṇā vāvādityā ete hīdaṁ sarvam ādadate — "the prāṇas are the Ādityas: for they take all this away (ā-dā-!)".
Old age is the āditya age: a season of gathering in and giving back: the same powers that made things dwell and purified them with storms now carefully take away — draw life back in, as the sun at setting draws in its rays (1.3!). Three ages, three faces of the prāṇas: the Dwellers, the Weepers, the Gatherers — and all three are servants of one sacrifice. The sum of the savanas: 24 + 44 + 48 = 116 years: the full term of the puruṣa-yajña — and a living witness will presently confirm it.
