Traducción
Raised together with ascetics, guarded by their two mothers, in pure and holy forests and in the hermitages of great sages — they were then brought by the sages themselves to the sons of Dhritarashtra: children, fair of form, with matted hair, observing the vows of brahmacharya.

The Pandavas grew up among ascetics, in holy forests and the hermitages of great sages, as brahmacharins — their childhood steeped in austerity and sacred learning rather than in palace luxury. And it was the rishis themselves who brought them to court. Here an important truth is shown: a devotee's character is forged in the company of the saintly (sadhu-sanga) and in vows of purity. Even as princes, they wore the matted hair of ascetics. In this way the Lord prepares His devotees — raising them in holiness so that they become an example of dharma for the whole world.
