"My sons, ruled by anger, despise me, an old man; and I, blind, out of helplessness and love for my sons, endure it, and I too fall into delusion in the wake of senseless, maddened Duryodhana."

This is a strikingly honest confession from Dhritarashtra: he knows his sons are wrong, he knows Duryodhana has gone mad (muhyantam acetanam) -- and yet, out of helpless attachment (karpanya, putra-priti), he goes along with them, falling into delusion himself (anumuhyami). This is the very bondage of moha: attachment overpowers even knowledge. Dhritarashtra sees the truth but cannot act on it -- the tragedy of one ruled by worldly love rather than devotion. And the remedy the Gita will soon give Arjuna on this very field is precisely for this: to rise above attachment through surrender to Krishna. Dhritarashtra is the inverse image -- he knows, yet drowns, for he has found no refuge in the Lord. Thus it is shown: knowledge without devotion and detachment is powerless against moha.
