Traducción
When I heard that Arjuna, having satisfied the God of gods—three-eyed Shiva in the guise of a kirata—in combat, obtained that great weapon Pashupata—then, O Sanjaya, I lost hope of victory.

Shiva Himself, the God of gods, having tested Arjuna, bestows on him the fearsome weapon Pashupata. Shiva is the greatest devotee of the Lord (vaishnavanam yatha shambhuh); and so his grace toward Arjuna is grace in accord with Krishna's will. When a great devotee of the Lord favors another devotee, that one gains invincible strength. Thus even the gods serve the Lord's design, furnishing His devotee with all that is needed for the coming battle for dharma.
