And that man who, filled with faith, constantly hears this [tale] spoken by the sages, obtains long life, fame, and a blessed passage to heaven.

Constant hearing, with faith (shraddha), of this divinely inspired narrative bestows long life, fame, and a blessed lot after death. Once again faith stands at the center: it alone makes hearing fruitful. Yet even the greatest of the benefits listed here are but incidental fruits; the true gift of hari-katha lies immeasurably beyond heaven and longevity — it is the awakening of love for the Lord and the return to Him. Earthly blessings accompany the hearing, but its goal is Hari Himself.
