Traducción
When I heard that Uttara, daughter of the king of Matsya, honored, was offered to Arjuna, and Arjuna accepted her for his son (as a daughter-in-law)—then, O Sanjaya, I lost hope of victory.

King Virata offers Arjuna his daughter Uttara in marriage, but Arjuna, keeping his purity (for he had been her teacher), accepts her not for himself but as a daughter-in-law—for his son Abhimanyu. Here is the devotee's chastity and nobility, honoring the true bounds of dharma. Thus the alliance with Matsya is strengthened, and the line continues from which Parikshit will come, the future hearer of the Bhagavatam. The Lord's design quietly leads the narrative toward those who will preserve the hari-katha.
