Sanjaya points Dhritarashtra to the remedy for grief and delusion: an intellect that follows scripture (shastra-anuga buddhi). One who shapes thought and life by the word of the sacred texts does not fall into delusion (moha), however heavy the losses. This echoes the teaching of the Bhagavad-gita (2.11): the wise grieve neither for the living nor for the departed. True knowledge lies not in learning for its own sake but in submitting the mind to the authority of scripture, which leads to the Lord. Thus shastra becomes a lamp dispelling the darkness of moha — the very opposite of Dhritarashtra's own course, who till now has followed not scripture but attachment.
