अस्मिन् यज्ञे महाभागाः सूर्यपावकवर्चसः ।
कृताभिषेकाः शुचयः कृतजप्या हुताग्नयः ।
भवन्त आसते स्वस्था ब्रवीमि किम् अहं द्विजाः ॥

अनुवाद
"In this sacrifice, O great souls, shining like the sun and fire, having performed the purifying ablution, pure, having completed the recitation of mantras and the offering of oblations into the fire — you sit here at ease. What then shall I tell you, O twice-born ones?"

The Sauti describes with reverence the brahmins performing the sacrifice: they are purified, clean, having completed their japa and agnihotra. This is not mere praise but points to the qualities of those worthy to hear the sacred narration. Hari-katha — discourse about the Lord and His devotees — bears fruit in a heart made pure by vows and devotion. The narrator himself humbly asks, "What shall I tell you?" — he does not impose himself but offers himself in service to the listeners. Thus the right order is established: a pure listener and a humble narrator, between whom the auspicious word descends.
