अतीतानागता भावा ये च वर्तन्ति सांप्रतम् ।
तान् कालनिर्मितान् बुद्ध्वा न संज्ञां हातुम् अर्हसि ॥

Sanjaya draws the conclusion: everything — past, present, and future — is wrought by time, that is, accomplished according to the Lord's supreme law; understanding this, the wise do not lose their composure (samjna) even amid grievous losses. True steadiness is born of knowledge: seeing the hand of the Supreme behind the sequence of events, the soul finds peace and does not succumb to delusion. This is the direct opposite of Dhritarashtra's own fate, who, lacking such vision and support in the Lord, kept falling senseless with grief. Knowledge of the Lord's rule over time is the remedy for grief.
