Sanjaya calls things by their true names: Dhritarashtra's sons were corrupt — consumed by wrath and greed, prone to wrongdoing — and so grieving for them is out of place. Attachment blinds: the father did not see his children's faults and indulged them, and this indulgence led to their destruction. Here speaks the sober voice of dharma: love must not excuse unrighteousness. Grief for those who brought ruin on themselves through evil is fruitless; far more important is to draw the lesson that departing from dharma and warring against the Lord's devotees lead to ruin.
