यदाश्रौषं कश्मलेनाभिपन्ने ।
रथोपस्थे सीदमाने ऽर्जुने वै ।
कृष्णं लोकान् दर्शयानं शरीरे ।
तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय ॥

This is the heart of the Bhagavad-gita: Arjuna, overcome by despondency (kashmala, vishada), sinks down on the chariot, and then Krishna reveals all the worlds within His body — the universal form (vishva-rupa). The Lord descends to His bewildered devotee and dispels his delusion, both through instruction and through the direct vision of His majesty. Here the whole meaning of bhakti is revealed: when the devotee, exhausted, turns to the Lord, the Supreme Himself takes on his sorrow and opens the truth to him. He within whose body all the worlds are contained — this is the Supreme Person, the refuge of the soul.
