ते ऽप्य् अधीत्याखिलान् वेदाञ् शास्त्राणि विविधानि च ।
न्यवसन् पाण्डवास् तत्र पूजिता अकुतोभयाः ॥

The Pandavas mastered all the Vedas and shastras: devotion does not contradict learning — bhakti is joined with knowledge, not with ignorance. They are called "fearing nothing from any quarter" (akutobhaya): fearlessness (abhaya) is the fruit of taking shelter in dharma and in the Lord. One who has taken refuge in Krishna has nowhere to expect fear from, for the Lord Himself protects His devotee ("My devotee never perishes," Gita 9.31). Their honored and fearless life is an image of the protection enjoyed by souls dear to the Lord.
