Before us unfolds an orderly emanation of the entire universe: gods, classes of beings, sages, kings, the elements and time itself — all proceed in sequence from a single primary cause. At the heart of this list stands “Purusha, whose nature is immeasurable, whom the sages know as all that exists.” This points to the Supersoul (Paramatma): the Lord dwells within everything as its innermost basis (antaryāmin) — and is therefore “known as everything” — while remaining “immeasurable” (aprameya), transcendent. Here again achintya-bheda-abheda comes into view: everything is His energy and is pervaded by Him (oneness), while at the same time He infinitely surpasses creation (distinction). Even time — the years and the seasons — is His ordinance and His manifestation. And the words “before the eyes of the world” (loka-sākṣikam) recall the supreme Witness: the Lord beholds everything from within the heart. Such an orderly issuing of existence from the Person refutes both the idea of the world’s chance origin and the notion of an impersonal void as the first principle.
