इत्य् उक्त्वा धृतराष्ट्रो ऽथ विलप्य बहुदुःखितः ।
मूर्च्छितः पुनर् आश्वस्तः संजयं वाक्यम् अब्रवीत् ॥

Having said this, Dhritarashtra, deeply grieved, wailing, fell senseless; then, coming to himself again, he spoke these words to Sanjaya.

Crushed by grief, Dhritarashtra falls senseless, and, scarcely recovering, continues to wail. Herein is revealed the powerlessness of one who has leaned all his life on the perishable: when its supports collapse, there is no firm ground in the soul, and grief overwhelms it. The devotee, however, whose refuge is the Lord, keeps inner peace even amid loss, for his support is imperishable.
