तम् चेद् एतस्मिन् वयसि किंचित् उपतपेत् सः ब्रूयात् प्राणाः रुद्राः इदम् मे माध्यंदिनम् सवनम् तृतीयसवनम् अनुसंतनुत इति मा अहम् प्राणानाम् रुद्राणाम् मध्ये यज्ञः विलोप्सीय इति उत् ह एव ततः एति अगदः ह भवति
tam ced etasmin vayasi kiṃcit upatapet saḥ brūyāt prāṇāḥ rudrāḥ idam me mādhyaṃdinam savanam tṛtīyasavanam anusaṃtanuta iti mā aham prāṇānām rudrāṇām madhye yajñaḥ vilopsīya iti ut ha eva tataḥ eti agadaḥ ha bhavati
If in this age something afflicts him, let him say: "O prāṇas, O Rudras! Extend this midday pressing of mine on into the third pressing: may I, the sacrifice, not be cut short in the midst of the prāṇas, the Rudras!" And he rises from it and becomes well.

The second healing mantra, for maturity: "O Rudras! extend the midday into the third": the same device — an appeal to the unbreakability of the sacrifice, now to the terrible lords of noon.
Mark the constancy of the address prāṇāḥ — "O prāṇas": in every age one calls upon one's own vital powers, titling them according to the age (Vasus — Rudras — Ādityas): healing comes from an alliance with one's own life understood as divine: not "body, repair yourself" but "my hosts, let us finish the service!": the medicine of the puruṣa-yajña is a liturgy turned inward.
