सः यः बलम् उपास्ते यावत् बलस्य गतम् तत्र अस्य यथाकामचारः भवति यः बलं ब्रह्म इति उपास्ते अस्ति भगवः बलात् भूयः इति बलात् वाव भूयः अस्ति इति तत् मे भगवान् ब्रवीतु इति

Freedom in the realm of strength is mastery of everything that can be taken by effort. But strength too, which a moment ago shook "a hundred men of comprehension", stands in its own queue of causes: it must be fed with something.
So the ladder turns toward the very foundations — food, water, heat, space: Sanatkumāra will lead his pupil through the storerooms of the world, showing that these too are rungs of the spirit. In this lies a special beauty of the chapter: it does not divide the world into "low" and "high" but arranges everything — from bread to the Boundless — in one ascending chain of venerations.
