Gārgya said: "The person who is in fire — him I venerate as Brahman." Ajātaśatru said: "Do not speak to me of him! I venerate him as the All-overcoming." He who venerates him thus becomes all-overcoming, and his offspring become all-overcoming.

The sixth address is fire, and the rank is viṣāsahi, "the All-overcoming": flame overcomes everything set before it, making no distinction between the hard and the soft. The fruit is the same all-conquering power in the man and in his line.
Half the list is done, and its law is visible: Gārgya names the bearers, the king names the powers. The scholar sees the things (sun, wind, fire); the knower sees the energies of the One at work in them. This is the difference between a collector of holy places and a theologian: the first gathers addresses, the second reads one Will in every address.
