The formula of the antaryāmin is applied to the next vesture: knowing. The same four members: He is within; knowing does not know Him; knowing is His body; He rules it from within. And the same conclusion: he is your ātman, the Inner Ruler, the immortal.
Vijñāna, the very capacity to know, does not know its own Knower: the light of a lamp does not illumine the one who lit it. The Ruler of knowing is on the far side of every act of knowledge.
