Brahminhood casts off the one who knows brahminhood as apart from the ātman. The kṣatra casts off the one who knows the kṣatra as apart from the ātman. The worlds cast off… the gods cast off… the Vedas cast off… beings cast off… everything casts off the one who knows everything as apart from the ātman. This brahminhood, this kṣatra, these worlds, these gods, these Vedas, these beings, this all — is this ātman.

The reverse side of the teaching is a verdict on estranged knowledge, now with the Vedas added: even scripture "casts off" (parādāt) the one who knows it "apart from the ātman" — as an alien object, a warehouse of quotations with no Living One inside. Knowledge about the holy that has not recognised the Self in the holy is cast off by the holy itself.
And the concluding identity in its full breadth: brahminhood, power, worlds, gods, Vedas, beings — "all this is this ātman". The formula does not dissolve the world — it gives it back: everything estranged becomes one's own as soon as the common Owner of the kinship is recognised. For bhakti this is the alphabet of love: the universe taken past the Lord takes revenge by slipping away; taken in Him, it answers with love throughout.
