译文
He who knows attainment has fulfilled for him whatever desire he desires. Hearing is attainment: for in hearing all these Vedas are gathered. He who knows this has fulfilled for him whatever desire he desires.

Hearing's title is saṁpad, attainment, with a beautiful ground: "in hearing all the Vedas are gathered" — śrotre hīme sarve vedā abhisaṁpannāḥ: the whole revelation lives in the ear of those who listen; śruti means precisely "what has been heard".
And the fruit matches the organ: for the hearer "the desire is fulfilled" — one who can listen obtains what he seeks, for everything needful has already been said: the world, the Vedas and the teachers have an answer for anyone who can ask with his ear.
